Practice Experience

Aya Shehata is a paralegal with a diverse legal background and experience across multiple sectors, including maritime law, energy, and litigation support. She provides assistance in legal research, document drafting, and case management, supporting legal teams in handling complex matters while ensuring accuracy and compliance with procedural requirements.

Prior to her current role, Aya practiced law in Egypt for seven years in the maritime sector at MESCO Middle East for Survey and Control, where she handled matters related to shipping disputes, cargo claims, and maritime regulations. Through this work, she developed practical knowledge of international maritime conventions, including the Hamburg Rules, and gained hands-on experience in maritime legal practice and claim handling.

Aya also gained exposure to the energy sector through her work with Halliburton Middle East, where she developed experience related to petroleum and energy contracts, strengthening her understanding of commercial agreements and contractual frameworks within the oil and gas industry.

In addition to her legal practice, Aya has pursued academic and social initiatives. She completed a semester program at Johns Hopkins University focused on Legal Aid, enhancing her understanding of access to justice and legal assistance frameworks. She has also contributed to community and social development projects through the Anna Lindh Foundation, reflecting her interest in civic engagement and social impact initiatives.
